Let the marathon begin...

Three weeks of workshop with Janice Garrett & Dancers, one RAWdance show at Union Square, three RAWdance shows at CounterPulse, three different programs on one tour to Idaho with Printz Dance Project and then rehearsal for the “outdoor project” with Janice Garrett & Dancers. That’s my July and August. I thoroughly love my life as a dancer, and this is what I’ve worked towards and where I want to be. I just hope I can physically and mentally work through it all with a positive attitude, joy and a light heart. Of course, I’m writing all of this as my way of putting positive vibes in the open, and being open to what the universe has in store for me in the next two month. Wish me luck…

No No's

Two costume things I would never wish upon anyone -

The bright colored unitard (hood or no hood). Why? It is a dancer's worst nightmare to wear one on stage....

The big hair bow. Why? They're scary looking...

I'm an addict

I've been drinking way too much coffee in recent weeks. I'm not sure if it's because I haven't been getting much sleep at night, or because I just like the taste of coffee with a yummy flavored creamer, but I'm drinking way too much of it. I have a coffee mug and a travel mug in my car, my desk at home has an empty coffee mug and a to go cup (both are large), and in about 15 minutes I'm going to make a cup of coffee before class. Is there such a thing as too much? I think so. I really should do tea because it's better for me...but coffee is so yummy.

So yummy.

I guess if I had to be addicted to a substance, this would be my choice. I could smoke crack instead - but then I'd have a real issue...and I'd like to stay an issue-free, substance free, guy.

American Gladiators

Laura and I have been obsessed with American Gladiators lately. We can’t catch it Monday nights because of rehearsal, so we catch it On Demand when we have a free day/night. We decided that it would be more fun to be on American Gladiators than on So You Think You Can Dance because the latter show would be far too stressful. We also decided to come up with our own Gladiator name. Admit it…it’s a fun thing to think about. What would yours be?

Laura jokingly said her name would be KITTEN. She would hiss or meow at the contestants like a current American Gladiator named WOLF who howls before every event.

I haven’t decided on one yet because I’m not that strong, nor am I that fast…and the name ORDINARY and MEDIOCRE don’t seem appropriate. SPARKPLUG and DYNAMITE pop out…but not for me. I definitely can’t work an alpha male name like TANK or THOR. RICOCHET, TRACKER, and some word relating to “stamina” are good ones, but what would my schtick be based on those name? What about LUMPIA? WITTY? Or not…

To be continued…

The RAWdance Chronicles

RAWdance has a new blog! Read what happens behind the scenes... it's guaranteed to be just as interesting as what you see on stage. Seriously.

Or, you can click on the link on my LINKS section.

Enjoy!

"Don't Think, Have Fun."

I read an article in Men's Health about a successful athlete and his thoughts on his achievements.

He mentioned his philosophy...

"Don't think, have fun...
those are words to live by when you play a game for a living."

I think that's a really good reminder for myself, and for all of us, who do what we love for a living.

Beckham Update

After Wendy's performance at the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival with Deborah Slater Dance Theater,

and a brief stop for food,
I organized a stop at Union Square to see the David Beckham Armani ad.

We took a trashy photo...

Clearly, we weren't the only ones with that idea.

I love our city.

RAWdance Road Trip

Friday evening, the gang hit the road for a mini road trip to Sonic Burger in Tracy, CA. Yes, we drove to a fast food joint an hour and fifteen minutes away from San Francisco. No one had ever been to one, and Caitlin swore by Cherry lime aides, so we were convinced we needed to try them. (It was a perfect summer evening to try the sweet limey goodness!) Plus, they deliver your food to your car on roller skates - so we had to experience that. For dessert, we planned to go to the local Wendy's for chocolate frosties...another fast food treat many of us had never enjoyed. So we threw on our shorts, google mapped Tracy, CA, got ipod playlists going, and hit the road.

Here are some of the views... (click on any photo to go to the complete set)

whee!
"What the hell? How do we do this?"
Laura places the order.
We enjoy Sonic goodness.R - A - W - ! dance outside of Wendy's.By the way - The Cherry Lime Aides were YUMMY! I got two!

Oh yeah, and this is why I love this group - because of the randomness of our adventures.

Later, i Youtubed Sonic Burger and found this commercial for them. Brilliant.

Friday Randomness

I'd love to be a cat.

I spent most of today at home planning my class for this afternoon. As I was sweating in my living room reviewing combinations, the kids were lying on the floor, on my bed, on the couch, in the bathroom, on the stairs and every nook and cranny of the house sleeping.

I wonder what that's like...

Also:

The RAWdance crew is going on a mini road trip to Tracy, California later this evening. What's there you ask? Sonic - America's Drive In. A bunch of us have never experienced an all American fast food joint where they deliver food to your car on roller skates. It should be interesting. Details from the trip later...

Happy Friday / Happy Summer

This is a Coca Cola ad that always makes me smile.

Enjoy!

They say...

it's good luck when a bird poops on you.

Well, I hope that's the case.
